Authority thrives on unexamined language, unexamined fear, and the comfort of someone else holding the blame. When you refuse that comfort, you do not become safe — you become awake.

THE PRACTICE

• Name the order: Who issued it? Who benefits if you comply?
• Name the cost: What do you trade — time, dignity, blood, silence?
• Name the alternative: Even a small refusal is a different path.

Carry the question into the street, the court, the feed, and the haven: Why do you obey? If the answer is only “because they said so,” you have found the chain.
